5th International Conference on Post Adoption Practice

Info: ACTION proposes an international collaboration and discussion among many grass roots organizations, individuals, and agencies. The purpose of ACTION is not to debate what is right and wrong with the adoption process, but to work together to provide the best possible training, treatment, services, and psycho-educational tools for families and children, and for the professionals who work with them worldwide. ACTION has begun to establish a network that will exchange ideas, knowledge, models, and resources to provide the best possible services for all members of the extended "Family of Adoption." In 2011 our goal is to look at the issues of race, gender, class and individual and family identity in the post adoption extended family (including birth and adoptive family) whether the adoption is open or closed.

Center For Family Connections, in collaboration with the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, is pleased to announce that the deadline for the 2011 ACTION conference Call For Proposals has been extended.

We have extended the deadline for the Call For Proposals to July 16, 2010 in order to expand our horizons and add more fabulous speakers. Click here for the Call For Proposals.

Spring 2010: Taste Of Spring

The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute hosted the 7th Annual Taste of Spring event, on Thursday, May 13, 2010, to honor Peter Burki of LifeCare and Kobrand. The event was a success all around transition to new venue, inclusion of online auction, Board attendance and support, and surpassing our budget goal! Supporters and guests helped raise over $300,000. more

Winter 2010: L.A. Benefit

Info: The Adoption Institute's Los Angeles Benefit – Celebrating ... Our Families, Our Children – was a success in every way. In addition to reuniting with West Coast friends, and making new ones, we were able to share information on many of the Institute's exciting projects. With the help of our Host Committee, we raised almost $90,000 in sponsorships and donations, more than meeting our goal for the event. This funding is vital to keep our work going in the coming year, and is especially important during the current recession, when other sources of support are strained. more
