Adoption Learning Partners and the Evan B. Donaldson Adopion Institute had the pleasure of hosting a webinar on March 25 featuring Dr. Karyn Purvis entitled Parenting Children from Haiti and Other "Hard Places." In this session, Dr. Purvis shared practical advice to guide parents in working through issues related to attachment, communication, sleep and managing the transition into a new family. The entire discussion was based on specific questions submitted by parents who had registered for the webinar. While the session was designed to be particularly helpful for families who are currently welcoming home Haitian orphans, the content is highly relevant for all families of children who come from a tough start in life.
Below is a link to access the recorded version of that webinar in its entirety. You may notice a few rough spots in the recording, due to some minor technical difficulties. Nonetheless, you'll find that Dr. Purvis' warm and welcoming style comes shining through. In fact, she offers so many useful tidbits and valuable insights, you may even want to review it more than once! We invite you to do so, and to share the link with others you think might find it useful.
