Media Advisory: For Immediate Release

NEW YORK, May 14, 2009 – The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute is proud to announce that its annual corporate award, given to companies for their exceptional support of children and families in the realm of adoption and foster care, this year will go to Wendy’s for its strong, ongoing commitment to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The award will be presented this evening at the Adoption Institute’s “Taste of Spring” benefit in New York.

“We cannot think of a more deserving honoree than Wendy’s,” said Adam Pertman, Executive Director of the Adoption Institute. “It not only supports a wide range of programs to help children waiting for forever families, but also was recognized as the nation’s `Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace’ for 2008.”

The Vice President of Wendy’s International, Denny Lynch, said the firm was “honored to have the esteemed Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute recognize our work in the cause that was so important to Dave Thomas. By allowing us to leverage his good name and the power of the Wendy’s brand, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is realizing great success in assuring a safe, loving and permanent home for every child in need,” added Lynch, who is also the Foundation’s Board President.

In addition to Wendy’s, the Adoption Institute this year will honor Chef Cyril Renaud for his support of the Institute through five years of participation in the “Taste of Spring,” an annual benefit in New York that features tastings from celebrity chefs and restaurateurs, as well as fine wines from around the world. Renaud is the chef and owner of the new Bar Breton and the former Michelin-starred restaurant Fleur de Sel.

Past honorees at “Taste of Spring” have included then-Senator Hillary Clinton, Prudential Financial, and the actress Christine Ebersole and her husband, Bill Moloney. The honorary co-chairs for this year’s event, which takes place tonight, are: the actors Debora-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman, rap legend Darryl (DMC) McDaniels; acclaimed casting director Sheila Jaffe; and Ebersole and Moloney.

The Adoption Institute is the pre-eminent research, policy and education organization in its field. Its mission is to provide leadership and support to improve laws, policies and practices – through sound research, education and advocacy – to enhance the lives of everyone touched by adoption.
