The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute has partnered with the following organizations.
Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children
In 1996, seeing a need for an independent and unbiased adoption research and policy organization, the Board of Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children created the Adoption Institute. The Institute was named in memory of Evan B. Donaldson, who was a member of the Spence-Chapin Board of Directors continuously from 1977 on, serving as president from 1986 until her death in 1994. Mrs. Donaldson was energetically involved in the planning of the Institute. Since creating the Institute with a substantial initial gift, Spence-Chapin has continued to provide generous annual operating support, as well as guidance and a vital, ongoing connection to the "front lines" of adoption, as practiced by one of the nation's premiere agencies since its founding in 1908. Its Executive Director, Katharine Legg, serves as a member of the Adoption Institute's Board of Directors.
Adoption Learning Partners
Renowned as one of the foremost adoption agencies in the country since opening in 1923, The Cradle has helped place more than 14,000 children into lasting, loving homes. It provides lifelong support for all who are touched by adoption – birthparents, adopted persons and adoptive parents – and is the only adoption agency in the country with an on-site nursery. In recent years, The Cradle has expanded its scope to include Adoption Learning Partners (ALP), online training courses for prospective adoptive parents and adoption professionals. Through the power of the Internet, ALP has made the thorough training The Cradle is known for convenient and accessible to professionals and families all across the globe. The Cradle has been a generous provider of operating support for the Adoption Institute, and now participates in a partnership between the Institute and ALP to improve the preparation and training of adoptive parents and adoption professionals.
